A bit about football and my weak nerves

So, today is Thursday, my favorite day of the week. This Thursday I'll meet with my boyfriend after one week apart, yay! I couldn't sleep last night cause i was excited haha :D who'd say i'd be like that after a year and a half together :) awesome :)

Anyways, about football. Yesterday I watched Dinamo-Helsinki match, 2nd leg of qualifications for Champions League. Dinamo had 2-1 from first match in Helsinki so they were all 100% certain that it's already done. Tickets for the match were sold out hours after sale began. They were only 0.25 and 1.25 pounds!! So, the stadium was full, atmosphere was awesome, weather was nice, some would say perfect conditions. I won't write the match report, I was tweeting about it yesterday and only few cared for that, so :P I'll say most important stuff. As one Croatian news portal said, they(the audience) payed 1 pound for football, and that was what they got. Dinamo played good,i'd even say great, for first half an hour. 70% possession, constant attacking, good chances, no goals. But then they kinda relaxed, especially in second half. Luckily, Helsinki is really not so good so they didn't take advantage of that relaxed Dinamo. They should have, at least the match would be more interesting. Crowd was booing players and manager, they want him to leave. Dinamo's manager is Krunoslav Jurčić, one of the amazing Croatian '98. generation that was 3rd in the world. But as a manager, he plays for result, not for the beauty of the game. That was the case yesterday, and in every league game so far. That's why people don't like him so much. Yes, they had chances yesterday, but no goals, until the end of the match, when Ibanez scored in 90th minute. And people just forgot about everything haha, classic. Dinamo is in next round, waiting for their new opponent, which will be known on Friday after the draw.
Arsenal was interested in buying some Dinamo players, Vrsaljko and young Mateo Kovačić. No deal was made cause Dinamo wanted too much money. I'm happy for that, cause I really think they are not worth it, especially young Kovačić. He played a lot yesterday. One Dinamo's player got injured in first half, and Kovačić came on. I can't help myself, but I reaaaaaaaaaally don't like him. I only saw mistakes yesterday. He is still too young, he has so much to learn and he has to grow a bit more to be fit for Premiership. Vrsaljko on the other hand was great, had some great chances, he was both in defense and in attack, I liked him. I wouldn't mind if we try to buy him for next season. He can only get better, especially if Dinamo will play in Europe a bit longer that before.
And today is Europa League Qualification day! I'm finally going to watch my hometown team, NK Varaždin! They play vs Dinamo Bucharest today, 2nd leg. It was surprisingly good in Bucharest. They drew, 2-2, and no one expected that(me neither :D ). Croatian media acted like they were not even playing. I was so mad.. But thankfully, Varaždin proved them all wrong. They are very young team, and in big financial problems. Players didn't get their last 6-7 paychecks, or even more. Couple of young and perspective first team players left at the beginning of preseason, and no new players were bought. Varaždin is the kind of team that makes the players, and them sells them at the end of the season to have some profit. I'm sure if they were together for 2 years or more, they could do big things. So, today they just have to keep the result, maybe score a goal or two and show the Croatian media and public that you can play good and get results without any money. :)

As for "my weak nerves" part of the title, I had to download Google Chrome :( I've always been a FIrefox girl. I love it so much, you can personalize EVERYTHING! But.. it got so slow.. I don't know what they're doing there in Mozilla Labs, but I want them to fix that as fast as possible. This Chrome is so...empty...simple...easy...plain...I don't like it,although is so fast. I just miss my toolbars, my colorful buttons, Personas, and everything.. Hope Firefox will get better...

Anyways, thanks for reading! If Varaždin plays good today, I'd maybe write another post today just to praise them :D haha :D

Can "Arsenal" and "optimism" be in a same sentence?

My second post is all about Arsenal. As you all know(but I'll be a bad girl and remind you), we didn't win the famous and very prestige ( :) ) Emirates Cup couple of days ago. We draw both of our games, 2-2 against Boca Juniors, and 1-1 against New York Red Bulls. I'm sure it would be 3-3 against PSG(I'd write 0-0 but they scored so much against Boca hehe). I was lucky enough to watch both games, yeah. And, I didn't let the results to ruin my weekend. How is that possible, unless you're not so into Arsenal?

Well, on the end of last season, I promised my self some kind of break from Arsenal. I was an active member of Arsenal Croatia's forum (active is really an euphemism for what I was there haha). It was a great community, lots of people talking not just about Arsenal but about life in general, I loved it there. But, Arsenal was getting on my nervs. They were ruining my weekends, I suffered mocking amongst my friends, too much time was "wasted" on nothing. So, I decided to take a break and have a happy summer. I removed the forum bookmark, and all sport news portals too, I only left Arsenal.com, cause they don't bother to write stuff about transfers :D It wasn't easy, but I was so mad at my team. I mean, I skip hanging out with famliy and friends to watch Liverpool scoring in 11th minute of extra time! I mean, come on. Something had to change. It didn't look as Arsenal would, so  I had to.

I love Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby, and he actually gave me the idea to take a break. He did that once, but he came back, just as I knew I will too. First week or so was ok. No Arsenal at all, I was lucky that Croatian media doesn't care so much about Arsenal. But then, Twitter happened. Basiclly all people I follow have something to do with Arsenal. My timeline was full of transfer fairy tales and horror stories. Cesc to Barca, Nasri to United, Nasri to City, oh look Jenkinson, google, ok, next, Clichy to City :( and so on and so on... Clichy to City made me sad. I know he wasn't so good, but he was one of my favorites, the last invincible. And about Cesc and Nasri, I never believed they'll leave. And I still don't :) There was a lot more things happening, you know all of them. It would take too much time to write down all players we were connected with and all the clubs that want our guys.

So, here we are. Preseason friendlies, Asia Tour, Emirates Cup. I didn't watch any of the preseason games, only the EC ones, and I don't think I've missed anything, the Arsenal bloggers told me what I needed to know. To be honest, I was more about Thierry Henry coming back to Emirates than about winning our first trophy of the season. That's why I wasn't so angry or sad or frustrated when we didn't win. Like I said, I watched both games, and I actually enjoyed. You may call me crazy, but I love the fact you have to be nervous and scared until the final whistle is blown. I love that expectation, all the little heart attacks I get when oponnents cross the middle of the pitch. Of course, I'm sad when they score. BUT, I don't yell at Wenger for not buying world class defenders. I mean, we have Vermaelen and Koscielny, I love that pair, they are one of the best defenders in Premierleague. Squillacy, well, I share the same opinnion as most of gooners. Djourou, I like him, he can be good, he can make mistakes. The thing here is, they are replacements, and you just can't expect us to have a world class 4th defender. The same goes for Vito Mannone. He is great as 3rd goalkeeper.

People love to moan, gooners especially. Oh, Djourou didn't run for ball? SELL!! DAMN YOU WENGER BUY SOMEONE! I mean, people, chill. I'm not saying there should be no criticism at all, it's really welcome. But, be objective as much as possible. It's a lot to ask, I know, but I think that would help the team more than constant moaning about every little thing that goes wrong. It's football, it's why we love it, unpredictable, full of surprises, good ones and bad ones, that's just how things work. We just have to hope for the best. I do that, and I really can't wait for the season to begin. I'm very very veeeeery optimistic. I don't expect injury gods to help us, I don't expect any big name signings, but I have faith in my team, and in Wenger. Bring me the Premiership, the Champs League, all the Cups. It's a brand new season, we'll have ups and downs as always, others will too. But I have this feeling that everything will be ok . :)

Thanks for reading :) Comments are welcome!

First one is on the house

Okay, so I started a blog like millions of people in websphere. I start a blog every coupe of months, actually, but I always stop writing it, because I usually dont't get much readers. Hope this will change.

So, what will I blog about. Well, about myself, obviously. :P Don't worry, I'm an interesting person, at least if you look at my list of interests :D I cam up with this idea today, when some random things from my past came on my mind. And I thought, wow, why not write down that stuff? :D This blog has no special theme, I will be writing about whole lot of stuff, total randomness. So, you can expect everything from advanced Arsenal match reports (haha) to photos of lovely dresses and heels, I hope everyone will find something for themselves.

Ok, what else? Oh yeah. I coul say something more about myself. I'm a chatty person, especially on the Internet. You can see that on your lefthand side, where my twitter updates are :D I love football, actually I love sports, watching sports to be specific. I never trained or anything, I'm pretty lazy. So, expect posts about Arsenal, football generally, maybe handball and other amazing (male) sports. I also love to read. Books, that is. Love the smell of new book, as well as the old one from library. My favorite books are those with tons of characters, hundreds of little events in their lives and complicated stories. My favorite book of al time is Marquez's 100 Years of Solitude. I've read it maybe 10 times, and it still amazes me, each time i discover something new. THAT's what a great book has to be. So, you may expect maybe some book reviews :) Also, expect movie and tv shows reviews, I love that too (oh what a surprise!)

It may sound like I don't do a thing in my life :D well, I'm a full time student at Faculty of Organization and Informatics, studying to be (maybe, one day,in 3 years perhaps) an Informatics teacher and/or web designer. I gotta say, I'm not too much into it, but it's much better than studying law, for example. Oh, I'm good ad Photoshop, at least that's what people say, I'm not gonna brag, but you can ask around :D I make wallpapers mostly, you can see my "arsenalofka" signature on computer desktops all round the world :P Maybe there'll be a post or two about my student life, if it gets interesting :D

Last, but not least(actually, it's biggest part of my life), I will write about love. I'm in such a great relationship, and my whole life is about my dear boyfriend, my soulmate, also a Manchester United fan :D I may brag how much he loves me and does cute things for me, so prepare to be jelaous :D hehe :)

Ok, is that all? I guess it is. Expect(wow, it must 100th time I've used this word) new post every now and then, more often if I get more readers :D thanks for taking your time for reading my first one :) oh, and sorry for any mistakes, english is not my mother tounge, but they say I'm good at it :D Follow me on Twitter(there's a link on the left), follow the blog on GFC, come here tomorrow and make me veeeery happy :)

Drinks all 'round!
